Mechanical Engineer – Noise Control or Acoustician, Ottawa, ON

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Noise Control or Acoustician specializing in the design, integration, and commissioning of aero-acoustic systems relating to compressor and gas turbine test facilities.
The Candidate must have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
- Calculation of Sound Transmission Losses, Silencer Insertion Losses, Outdoor Sound Propagation, and Indoor Sound Attenuation
- Infrasound
- On-site data gathering and acoustic measurements using ISO standards
- Detailed Facility and Community Acoustic Evaluation.
The successful candidate must have excellent English communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to travel internationally.
The Candidate will:
- Participate in the detailed design of aero-acoustic systems, facility planning, and equipment layout
- Be responsible for the development and management of designs from the conceptual stage through fabrication and installation, including:
- detailed analysis
- the development of relevant documentation
- chairing design reviews
- managing and providing technical support to manufacturers
The Candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in designing acoustic systems and familiarity with manufacturing processes, measurements, and engine testing. Experience or knowledge of the following shall be considered important assets:
- Mechanical and structural systems
- Construction methods
- Vibration systems
- Jet noise
- Acoustic analysis software such as LMS-Raynoise or SoundPLAN
Experience in the field of gas turbine development shall also be considered an asset.
PEO membership or eligibility for PEO membership is required.
Education Requirements:
The Candidate must possess a degree in Engineering (Masters preferred).
