Quality, Environment, and Health & Safety Representative, Thompson, MB

The world’s aviation industry is benefiting from the operation of a first class Global Aerospace Center for Icing and Environmental Research (GLACIER) in Thompson, Manitoba.  MDS AeroTest is managing, operating and maintaining the GLACIER facility, providing employment opportunities for a variety of skill sets, including several disciplines in high-tech aviation.

MDS AeroTest has a requirement for a Quality, Environment, and Health & Safety Representative to assist in the day to day operations of Glacier’s test facility in Thompson, Manitoba

General Responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out internal Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety audits;
  • Maintain the web based Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Management System including policies, procedures and templates;
  • Manage the Corrective and Preventive action system;
  • Participate in periodic Health and Safety meetings;
  • Coordinate and participate in the monitoring, measurement and analysis of process performance;
  • Manage vendor quality performance though audits, technical assessments, and surveillance activities;
  • Participate in a continuous improvement process by developing, analyzing and implementing proposals for business and operational processes;
  • Provide analysis and develop solutions relating to process and product nonconformances;
  • Maintain awareness of duties, rights and responsibilities under the Manitoba Occupational Health & Safety Legislation;
  • Plan, prepare, conduct, coordinate and assess the effectiveness of Quality, Environment and Health and Safety training programs; and,
  • Provide guidance on the interpretation and application of safety legislation and safe work practices and procedures.

Skills

  • A thorough understanding of the AS 9100 / ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Able to work autonomously.
  • Willing and able to travel.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline.
  • An auditing designation such as CQA, or recognized training in auditing.

Experience

  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a similar Quality Assurance position in the Aerospace industry.
  • Experience in environmental management would be an asset.
  • Experience in continuous improvement or business process development activities would be an asset.
  • Industry related experience in Health and Safety would be an asset.
